Ash's first blog photo (Small)

Today is my first post on a publicly view-able website. It’s been a long time coming. I’m glad to finally be here!

First I’d like to say thank you to all the people out there who’ve taken the time and effort to share their experiences and expertise online. I find it brave. It’s also helped me learn and grow in this digital era.  I think through writing, photos and videos it’s easy to see who people are and how they do various things across different platforms of life. It brings me joy knowing that no matter how far away someone is in physical form, they can still be reached and understood with a few clicks of a button, if they want to be connected.

I wish I was an artist who could express herself through beautiful drawings, or a musician who could play soulful music. But for me now, it’s writing, sharing photos and sharing videos that help me connect and communicate with others. It took me a long time to accept that it’s OK to be a person who’s thoughts flow clearer when alone, rather than in the company of others. Many other people are the same. It’s the little rebel inside me that wants to push against what I’m like. But as I age, I’m becoming more comfortable accepting how I best function. Maybe slowly, through that acceptance, I will unlock my other skills. And if not, at least I’ll still have some inner peace.

Anyway. From now on my goal is to be here, sharing with you bits of me and my family every week. It would make my day if you’d share bits of yours, in the comments, when you have time and are inspired to do so.

Until next time, have a lovely week!

About Ashley

Hi, I'm Ashley. Welcome to my site. Here you'll find a share of events from life with my husband, Russ, and our three elementary aged kids. We've lived as a family in Illinois, Virginia, North Carolina, and now Washington. Russ is a software engineer, and I'm a stay at home mom, and part time yoga teacher. We've made a pretty tight-knit family growing together these past 12 years. I hope you enjoy getting to know us from afar.
